The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, on behalf of the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA), invites dynamic, proactive, experienced, and suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill 17 vacant posts as detailed below.
1.0 THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH AUTHORITY (OSHA)
OSHA is a Government Executive Agency established under the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997. Its primary role is to promote a safe and healthy working environment by enforcing the Occupational Safety and Health Act No. 5 of 2003.
1.1 OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE INSPECTOR II – 4 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct workplace inspections and recommend remedial measures.
- Perform work environment measurements (e.g., noise, dust, radiation).
- Facilitate Occupational Hygiene and Ergonomics training.
- Operate and maintain measuring equipment.
- Prepare reports and provide input for surveys and research.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
Salary Scale: OSHAS 5
1.2 ENGINEER II (PLANT) – 3 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct plant safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Provide plant safety consultancy services.
- Scrutinize and approve plant drawings and plans.
- Investigate accidents and recommend control measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Must be registered by ERB as a Graduate Engineer.
Salary Scale: OSHAS 5
1.3 ENGINEER II (ELECTRICAL) – 2 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrical safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment.
- Provide electrical safety consultancy services.
- Investigate accidents and recommend control measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics. Must be registered by ERB as a Graduate Engineer.
Salary Scale: OSHAS 5
1.4 ENGINEER II (BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION) – 5 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct building and construction safety inspections.
- Scrutinize and approve building plans.
- Provide safety consultancy services.
- Investigate accidents and recommend control measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Must be registered by ERB as a Graduate Engineer.
Salary Scale: OSHAS 5
1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER II – 2 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in quality assurance inspections.
- Develop quality assurance frameworks.
- Prepare inspection reports and respond to customer inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Medicine, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
Salary Scale: OSHAS 5
1.6 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY II – 1 POST
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Type documents, manage office facilities, and handle correspondence.
- Take minutes, prepare agendas, and arrange meetings.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Secretarial Studies with proficiency in shorthand (100 wpm) and computer skills (MS-Word, Excel, etc.).
Salary Scale: OSHAS 3
