JOB VACANCIES
The Teachers’ Union of Tanzania is a workers’ organization representing teachers in various educational institutions across Mainland Tanzania. The Union is registered under the Trade Unions Act No. 004 and operates in accordance with the Employment and Labor Relations Act No. 6 of 2004. It advocates for the rights of teachers regarding working conditions, employment security, and salaries.
The Union is looking to strengthen its workforce by hiring competent individuals for the following positions at its Headquarters in Dodoma.
1. COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER – (1 POSITION)
Job Responsibilities:
- Collecting and preparing news articles.
- Taking pictures at various events.
- Editing photos and videos.
- Preparing advertisements.
- Managing the Union’s website and social media pages.
- Reviewing and responding to queries from teachers and other stakeholders regarding Union matters via letters or other means.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field from a government-recognized institution.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in Kiswahili and English.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
2. ACCOUNTING OFFICER – (2 POSITIONS)
Job Responsibilities:
- Handling financial matters.
- Preparing financial reports and statements.
- Keeping track of financial records and receipts.
- Processing payments.
- Managing the Union’s payroll.
- Monitoring financial transactions.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Diploma (NTA Level 5) or Bachelor’s Degree (NTA Level 6) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in financial management is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
3. INTERNAL AUDITOR – (1 POSITION)
Job Responsibilities:
- Planning and conducting internal audits.
- Identifying and mitigating financial and operational risks.
- Conducting analysis to ensure proper internal controls.
- Evaluating financial transactions and compliance with regulations.
- Recommending improvements in financial and operational procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Must have a CPA (T) certification.
- Work experience in auditing and financial management is an added advantage.
- Strong computer skills.
4. ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY – (17 POSITIONS)
Job Responsibilities:
- Typing and organizing office documents.
- Keeping records and correspondence.
- Managing office supplies.
- Arranging meetings and taking minutes.
- Handling incoming and outgoing communication.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Diploma (NTA Level 5) or a Bachelor’s Degree (NTA Level 6) in Secretarial Studies or Office Management.
- Must have shorthand writing skills.
- Strong computer literacy.
5. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens.
- They must be aged 18 and above.
- Must have valid academic and professional certificates.
- Must be proficient in using computers.
- Must not have been convicted of any criminal offense.
