JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT (CONTRACT POSITIONS)

The Office of the Regional Commissioner, Njombe, in collaboration with USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern Project, has implemented activities to combat HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis in all local councils of Njombe Region.

The Njombe Regional Office invites applications for short-term (six months) employment from Tanzanians with the ability, skills, and experience in health services. The selected candidates will work at HIV Testing Services (HTS) in facilities designated for providing health services in the councils within Njombe Region. The available positions are as follows:


VOLUNTARY HIV TESTERS (VHT) – 30 POSITIONS

(Njombe Urban 7, Makambako Town 1, Njombe Rural 8, Makete 3, Ludewa 5, Wanging’ombe 6)

1. Job Responsibilities:

i. Promote awareness and provide education about the availability of HIV Testing Services (HTS), informing clients on all matters regarding HIV, its management, treatment, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

ii. Conduct HIV testing for partners, clients engaging in high-risk sexual behaviors, and other groups in accordance with the 5 key principles of HIV testing (confidentiality, consent, counseling, accurate results, and connection to care and treatment).

iii. Reach out to individuals engaging in high-risk sexual behaviors, including their partners, biological parents of HIV-positive children, and children in need of HIV testing.

iv. Effectively integrate referrals into services that prevent HIV transmission, such as male condom distribution, male circumcision, and prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission.

v. Ensure the quality and accuracy of tests conducted through quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC), and oversee laboratory equipment and materials used in HIV testing.

vi. Safeguard the storage of materials related to HIV testing services and ensure all necessary tools for HTS are in place.

vii. Document accurate HIV testing results in records, registers, and reports, ensuring proper referral and linkage to services.

viii. Prepare and submit reports on high-risk partners tested during community and home-based testing activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Ensure the data is accurate and properly entered into DHIS2.

ix. Collaborate with other stakeholders to execute HIV programs as directed by the USAID Afya Yangu program, district-level supervisors, and council health management teams.
