ANNOUNCEMENT OF CONTRACT JOB VACANCIES
The Executive Director of Tanganyika District Council announces to all qualified citizens various job vacancies. The available positions are as follows:
1.0 CERTIFIED MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC GRADE II – ONE (1) POSITION
1.1 Qualifications of the Applicant:
Must have completed Form IV or VI and passed a two-year motor vehicle mechanics course from a government-recognized institution, and passed the Grade II Trade Test.
1.1.2 Job Responsibilities:
i. Perform maintenance and repairs on the Council’s vehicles;
ii. Assess vehicles needing repairs;
iii. Provide various advice on improving transportation services to ensure vehicle safety;
iv. Collaborate with the Transport Officer to ensure proper maintenance procedures are followed;
v. Maintain records of repairs done at the Council’s garage for reference;
vi. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to skills, experience, and education.
1.1.3 Salary Level:
To be agreed upon through negotiations between the employer and employee.
2.0 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER GRADE II – TWO (2) POSITIONS
2.1.1 Qualifications of the Applicant:
Must hold a Diploma in Computer Studies in one of the following fields: Computer Engineering/Networking/Communication and Electronics or Maintenance of ICT Systems from a government-recognized institution.
Or
Must hold a Diploma in Computer Studies in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Information Technology, Software Applications, Management Information Systems, Web Design and Systems Design & Analysis, Business Information Technology from a government-recognized institution in the mentioned fields.
2.1.2 Job Responsibilities:
Hardware and Networks Section:
i. Inspect and repair ICT equipment as necessary;
ii. Perform minor repairs on ICT equipment;
iii. Maintain ICT infrastructure;
iv. Take security measures to protect ICT equipment;
v. Inspect and identify equipment needing repairs;
vi. Provide user support for ICT equipment;
vii. Supervise the inspection and installation of new ICT equipment;
viii. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to skills and expertise.
Information Systems Section:
i. Inspect the quality of software applications and information systems;
ii. Perform minor adjustments to software applications;
iii. Take security measures to protect software applications and information systems;
iv. Provide user support for software applications and information systems (Help Desk);
v. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to skills and expertise.
2.1.3 Salary Level:
To be agreed upon through negotiations between the employer and employee for the respective cadre.
3.0 ASSISTANT INFORMATION OFFICER GRADE II – TWO (2) POSITIONS
3.1.1 Qualifications of the Applicant:
Must hold a Diploma in Journalism or an equivalent qualification from a government-recognized university.
3.1.2 Job Responsibilities:
i. Collect and write news;
ii. Take photographs;
iii. Prepare exhibition photos;
iv. Archive photos and manage the library and references;
v. Prepare journals and posters;
vi. Collect various statistics;
vii. Prepare journals and brochures.
3.1.3 Salary Level:
To be agreed upon through negotiations between the employer and employee for the respective cadre.
4.0 CERTIFIED BUILDING CONSTRUCTION MECHANIC GRADE II – ONE (1) POSITION
4.1 Qualifications of the Applicant:
Must have completed Form IV and passed a two-year building construction course from a government-recognized institution or hold an ordinary diploma in construction from a government-recognized institution.
4.1.1 Job Responsibilities:
i. Provide advice and supervision on construction projects for various buildings;
ii. Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual progress reports on construction projects;
iii. Inspect various buildings and infrastructure at different stages of construction;
iv. Supervise the implementation of contracts involving the Council in construction matters;
v. Supervise the legal framework of the construction sector, including regulations and procedures to improve building and infrastructure construction;
vi. Conduct in-depth analysis of construction-related data and statistics;
vii. Prepare estimates and various building plans;
viii. Prepare procurement procedures and contracts for architectural design, repairs, and upgrading of building and infrastructure standards.
4.1.2 Salary Level:
To be agreed upon through negotiations between the employer and employee for the respective cadre.
5.0 ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT GRADE II – TWO (2) POSITIONS
5.1 Qualifications of the Applicant:
Must hold a Certificate in Accounting from a government-recognized institution or an ATEC I Certificate issued by NBAA or equivalent qualifications recognized by NBAA.
5.1.1 Job Responsibilities:
i. Maintain and update accounting registers;
ii. Maintain accounting records;
iii. Maintain files with accounting records;
iv. Deliver accounting documents to the bank;
v. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
5.1.2 Salary Level:
To be agreed upon through negotiations between the employer and employee for the respective cadre.
6.0 REVENUE COLLECTORS – FIFTY (50) POSITIONS
6.1 Qualifications of the Applicant:
Applicants must have completed Form IV and passed one of the following training programs: Mgambo/JKT/Zimamoto or Wildlife Protection Training (VGS) from a government-recognized institution and awarded a certificate. Applicants who know how to use POS will have an added advantage.
6.1.1 Job Responsibilities:
i. Collect revenue at various points (checkpoints/gates) as assigned;
ii. Submit collected funds on time according to established procedures;
iii. Ensure vehicles and transportation equipment are inspected to determine the amount of cargo and verify if the correct tax has been paid.
6.1.2 Salary Level:
To be agreed upon through negotiations between the employer and employee for the respective cadre.
GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS:
- The applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen aged between 18 and 45 years;
- The applicant must attach copies of Secondary Education Certificates, professional certificates, and a birth certificate. Applicants submitting “Result Slip, Statement of Results, Provisional Results, or Transcripts” will not be accepted;
- All applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a functional address, phone numbers, and email address, along with the names of three reliable referees;
- Applicants who studied abroad must ensure their certificates are verified and authenticated by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE);
- Applicants who submit false information will be dealt with according to the law;
- The applicant must attach two (2) passport-sized photos to the application letter;
- Applicants who meet the criteria will be called for an interview;
- The applicant must write the job/cadre/position applied for on the envelope;
- The deadline for submitting applications is 15.03.2025;
