1.0 Background

Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA) is a fully-fledged private University owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). The University is located in Usa-River, 16 km from Arusha City, along Arusha – Moshi Road. With its vision of being a Christ-centred Higher Education Institution for excellence and hope, TUMA invites applications from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies at the University:


2.0 FACULTY OF EDUCATION, HUMANITIES, AND SCIENCE

2.1 Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mathematics or Master of Education in Mathematics or Master of Science with Education (Mathematics), with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Bachelor of Science with Education (Mathematics and another subject), with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.2 Assistant Lecturer in Informatics/Computer Science

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Computer Science/Informatics or Master of Education in Computer Science/Informatics, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Informatics/Computer Science, or Bachelor of Science with Education (Computer Science/Informatics and another subject), or Bachelor of Education (Computer Science/Informatics), with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.3 Assistant Lecturer in Biology

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Biology or Master of Education in Biology or Master of Science with Education (Biology), with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Bachelor of Science with Education (Biology and another subject), or Bachelor of Education in Biology, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.4 Assistant Lecturer in Chemistry

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Chemistry or Master of Education in Chemistry or Master of Science with Education (Chemistry), with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Bachelor of Science with Education (Chemistry and another subject) or Bachelor of Education in Chemistry, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.5 Assistant Lecturer in Physics

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Physics or Master of Science with Education (Physics) or Master of Education in Physics, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Bachelor of Science with Education (Physics and another subject), or Bachelor of Education (Physics), with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.6 Assistant Lecturer in Geography

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Geography or Master of Education in Geography or Master of Arts in Geography, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with Education (Geography and another subject), or Bachelor of Education (Geography), with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.7 Assistant Lecturer in Community Projects and Development

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in Community Development or Social Works, or Sociology or Rural and Community Development, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Arts in Community Development or Social Works or Rural and Community Development or Sociology, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.8 Assistant Lecturer in Accounts with Information Technology

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Information Technology or Master of Education in Information Technology with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or Bachelor of Education in Information Technology, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.9 Assistant Lecturer in Music

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in Music or Master in Music or Master of Education in Music, with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following instruments: voice, piano, brass, strings, or percussions, and,
  • Bachelor of Arts in Music or Bachelor of Education in Music or Bachelor of Arts with Education (music being one of the teaching subjects), with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.10 Assistant Lecturer in Economics

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in Economics or Master of Science in Economics or Master of Education in Economics, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and,
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education (Economics as one of the teaching subjects) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.11 Assistant Lecturer in English Literature

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in Literature or Master of Education in Literature, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and,
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education (Literature as one of the teaching subjects) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.12 Assistant Lecturer in History

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in History or Master of Education in History, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and,
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education (History being one of the teaching subjects) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.13 Assistant Lecturer in French

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in French or Master of Education in French, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education (French being one of the teaching subjects) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.14 Lecturer in Linguistics

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics with a pass.
  • Master of Arts in Linguistics or Master of Education in Linguistics, with a minimum GPA of 4.0.
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education (with English Language as a teaching subject) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.15 Lecturer in Isimu ya Kiswahili

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Kiswahili with a pass, and
  • Master of Arts in Isimu ya Kiswahili with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education (with Kiswahili as a teaching subject) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.16 Lecturer in Primary Education

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Primary Education or PhD in Education in related fields with a pass, and
  • Master of Education in Primary Education or a Master’s degree in Education in related fields, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Education in Primary Education or Bachelor of Education, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.17 Lecturer in Early Childhood Education

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Early Childhood Education and
  • Master of Education in Early Childhood Education with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.18 Lecturer in Special Needs/ Inclusive Education

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Special needs/Inclusive or PhD in Education in related fields and
  • Masters in Special needs/Inclusive or Masters in Education in related fields with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of education in Special needs/Inclusive or Bachelor of Education with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.19 Assistant Lecturer in Counseling or Psychology

Qualifications:

  • Master of Counseling or Psychology or Master of Education in Counseling or Psychology, with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education Psychology or Psychology, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

2.20 Assistant Lecturer in Sociology or Social Work

Qualifications:

  • Master of Sociology or Social Work with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology or Social work, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

3.0 FACULTY OF LAW

3.1 Assistant Lecturer in Law

Qualifications:

  • Master of Laws (LL.M) in Commercial law with a minimum GPA of 4.0
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

3.2 Assistant Lecturer in Law, preferably ICT/AI and the Law

Qualifications:

  • Master of Laws (LL.M) with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

3.3 Lecturer in Law

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Law with a pass, Master of Laws (LLM) with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

3.4 Lecturer in Law

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in International Relations with a pass,
  • Master of Law with a minimum GPA of 4.0, and
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

4.0 REMUNERATION

5.0 GENERAL CONDITIONS:

5.6 Applicants who have studied outside Tanzania must provide evidence of their qualifications’ recognition by the relevant authorities, such as NECTA, NACTE or TCU.
