Pan African University Special Call for Applications for 2025 Academic Year for PAUSTI & PAUWES Programmes
The Pan African University (PAU) is an initiative of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union. It is a premier continental university network whose mission is to provide quality postgraduate education geared towards the achievement of a prosperous, integrated, and peaceful Africa.
Young, qualified, talented, and enterprising applicants from African countries and the Diaspora who wish to pursue training in the fields of Water, Energy, Climate Change, Basic Sciences, Technology, and Innovation are invited to apply for Master’s or PhD degree programmes at the Pan African University Institute for Water and Energy Sciences (PAUWES) and the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology, and Innovation (PAUSTI).
This call for applications will be open from 20 February 2025 to 20 March 2025. Applications must be submitted online at https://www.au-pau.org/submission/.

Admission Requirements for Master’s Programmes
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Not be older than 30 years for male and 35 years for female applicants.
- Have an undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with at least a second-class upper division or its equivalent, in a relevant field.
- Provide certified true copies of relevant certificates and transcripts (from university and high school).
- Provide a copy of a passport or national ID card (personal details page).
- Submit a clear colored passport-size photograph (2cm x 2cm).
- Provide a detailed CV.
- Submit a recommendation letter from one former university lecturer.
- Provide the names of three reference university lecturers (with email addresses and WhatsApp numbers). (Mandatory)
Academic competence must be evidenced in academic transcripts at the bachelor’s level. Candidates may scan the necessary documents in PDF format to be ready to apply.
Admission Requirements for Doctoral (PhD) Programmes
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a maximum of 35 years old for male and 40 years old for female applicants.
- Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field from PAU or any internationally recognized university.
- Provide certified copies of relevant certificates and transcripts.
- Provide a copy of a passport or national ID card (biometric/personal details page).
- Submit a clear colored passport-size photograph (2cm x 2cm).
- Provide a detailed CV.
- Submit recommendation letters from two professors.
- Provide a 3 to 4-page research concept note (tentative title, research questions, objectives, significance of the research, etc.).
- Provide the names of three reference university lecturers (with email addresses and WhatsApp numbers). (Mandatory)
