The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, on behalf of the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA), invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions:

1. Deputy Registrar – Licensing (1 Post)

  • Employer: Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA)
  • Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
  • Supervises: Manager – Business Licensing Section and Manager – Industrial Licensing Section
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer the National Industries (Licensing and Registration) Act No. 10 of 1967 and the Business Licensing Act, 1972.
  • Advise on matters pertaining to Industrial and Business Licenses.
  • Direct and supervise all operations in the Directorate of Licensing.
  • Coordinate preparation of recommendations on applications for submission to the Industrial Licensing Board.
  • Approve feasibility studies submitted by prospective investors.
  • Liaise with other institutions on licensing issues.
  • Manage the register of Licenses.
  • Participate in the preparation of strategic plans, annual budgets, and operational plans.
  • Review and approve Industrial and Business Licenses.
  • Suspend, revoke, or cancel issued Licenses where necessary.
  • Liaise with Regional and District Trade Offices to facilitate licensing processes through online platforms.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Law, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Statistics, International Trade, Economics and Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or equivalent from a recognized institution. The Master’s Degree must be related to the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Work Experience:
  • At least 8 years of experience in a related field, with 2 years at a senior level.
  • Age Limit:
  • Not more than 45 years, except for those already in Public Service.
  • Remuneration:
  • As per BRELA Salary Scale.

2. Head of Business Registry Unit (1 Post)

  • Employer: Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA)
  • Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
  • Supervises: All Staff under the Unit
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Advise and provide guidance on records management systems.
  • Maintain electronic and manual records in line with Government Policies, Regulations, and Manuals.
  • Advise Management on matters related to the implementation of Records Management Policies, Regulations, and Manuals.
  • Process file classification schemes and indices for the Agency’s records.
  • Maintain electronic and manual Registers for Business Names, Companies, Business Licenses, Industrial Licenses, Patents, Trade, and Service Marks.
  • Manage retrieval of records and monitor file movement for proper tracking.
  • Control incoming and outgoing correspondences and register various documents.
  • Design and maintain electronic and manual files arrangement and control the movement of Business files within and outside the Organization.
  • Develop and maintain records and archiving management systems for the Agency.
  • Coordinate implementation of Records Retention and Disposal Schedule of the Agency.
  • Supervise scanning, indexing, and archiving of files.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Records Management, Archives, Archive and Documentation, Records and Information Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution. The Master’s Degree must be related to the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Work Experience:
  • At least 8 years of experience in a related field, with 2 years at a senior level.
  • Age Limit:
  • Not more than 45 years, except for those already in Public Service.
  • Remuneration:
  • As per BRELA Salary Scale.

3. Patents Section Manager (1 Post)

  • Employer: Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA)
  • Reports To: Director of Industrial Property
  • Supervises: All Staff under the Unit
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the administration of the Patents Act (Cap 217) R.E. 2002 and Regulations.
  • Advise the Director of Industrial Property on matters related to Patents.
  • Advise on amendments of laws and Regulations related to Patents.
  • Review and process applications for the grant of Patents and issue respective certificates.
  • Review and recommend for approval the processing of National Patents, Industrial Designs, and applications filed through regional and international routes.
  • Manage the administration of post-grant activities to ensure maximum compliance.
  • Administer international projects and communications on matters related to Patents.
  • Liaise with National Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Higher Learning and Research and Development Institutions for the promotion of innovation, science, and technology.
  • Coordinate participation in international fora for matters related to Patents and ensure national commitments are fulfilled.
  • Manage Patents records and ensure the information is available for public use.
  • Prepare and implement awareness creation programs on the procedures, standards, and requirements for Patent applications.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Law, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Statistics, International Trade, Economics and Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or Commerce in either Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Accountancy, or equivalent from a recognized institution. The Master’s Degree must be related to the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Work Experience:
  • At least 8 years of experience in a related field, with 2 years at a senior level.
  • Age Limit:
  • Not more than 45 years, except for those already in Public Service.
  • Remuneration:
  • As per BRELA Salary Scale.
