Vacancy Announcement: Business Development Officer

Background:
The Directorate of Public Services (DPS) is one of three directorates under the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research (DVC – R) at the University of Dar es Salaam. DPS is responsible for coordinating and managing Continuing Education (CE), Consultancy (University Consultancy Bureau), and industry linkage services. To support its daily operations and enhance the development and marketing of CE, UCB, and Industrial Liaison activities, DPS is seeking a qualified and motivated Business Development Officer.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research to identify new opportunities.
• Implement marketing strategies in collaboration with the Director and Heads.
• Develop and improve proposals to attract new and existing clients.
• Ensure the directorate meets revenue targets.
• Assist in defining the market and estimating national demand for UDSM’s CE and consultancy services.
• Develop techniques to enhance the market uptake of CE and consultancy services.
• Review marketing progress reports and advise on follow-up actions.
• Engage in pitching, sales, and bidding processes for CE and strategic consultancy services.
• Advise and monitor the branding of CE and consultancy services.
• Coordinate the preparation of training materials and multimedia content for various courses.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies with a specialization in Marketing, Business Administration (majoring in Marketing), Entrepreneurship, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• At least four years of working experience in a related field.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 in Marketing from a recognized university is an asset.
• Experience in development and marketing management programs.
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well in a team.
• Professional work ethics, including efficiency, thoroughness, and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Willingness to accept challenges and adapt to changing program demands.

Duration of Assignment:
One-year renewable contract, subject to performance and availability of funds.

Remuneration:
An attractive package will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with Government circulars and directives.
